A Haitian American woman born and raised in Brooklyn who found a way of tackling my lifelong weight problem. Carrying excess weight most of my life, I was constantly reminded of the issues that I could face because of this. Issues such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problems to name a few because I had family members who suffered from them. While health issues were a major factor, the excess weight also played a major role on how I viewed myself. While I loved myself very much and would not consider me to have a low self esteem, I found that I was unhappy with how I felt and looked at times which I attributed to the weight. My weight fluctuated for many years due to fad diets which I would commit to for a couple of months but would never give me the results I wanted. Sure it allowed me to look good for an occasion or even a season but once I was off the diet, I often reverted back to where I began, if not at an even higher weight. I was pretty much fed up and gave
